I moved classrooms, 8th grade student teaching to 5th grade real teaching. It’s been one week, and I love it- love my kids, love teaching, and Im surrounded by the nicest, most supportive coworkers who really help me as a new teacher. I love my 8th graders, I see them in the hallways and I’m still the assistant coach of the 7th and 8th grade girls’ soccer team. As much as I love my older kids, I have noticed that I’m so much less tired after a day with my new class. I was thinking about why while driving home (20-30 minute drive), and I was annoyed by the fact that photosensitivity comes with lupus, and the setting sun was really hurting my skin… And it hit me: I moved from an exterior classroom with Windows and sunlight to a nice, enclosed interior classroom with zero natural rays of exhausting agony. Such a small, simple change, and it’s caused such a pleasant difference in my day.

Take time and effort for the small things- they matter.
